BREAKER is a blue sky procedural set in the world’s most hostile environment. Six nations, six crew members, one ship and an experiment to secure the wild, wild north.

In the very near future, the USA, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Britain, and Canada commission the Narwhal, a nuclear class icebreaker to face an increasingly complex northern hot zone. Crewed by the best of the best from the Coast Guards and Navies of these Arctic nations, each week the crew will encounter a new crisis whether at sea, or within the community of its port-of-call Terror Bay.

The Narwhal has the speed required for high stakes enforcement missions, combined with the tonnage and power to blast through eight feet of Arctic ice. But even this unicorn of the sea may not be up to the task of protecting the world’s most dangerous stretches of ocean.

The Northwest Passage and the Eastern Sea Routes are the new super highways for the world’s oil, drugs, and terror. The Arctic ocean is the last frontier for development, a fragile environment with a Russian flag stabbed into the ocean floor of the North Pole.

The mission is clear, protect NATO’s interests from military, criminal, and environmental threats. But each of the crew holds secondary missions that don’t always align. Divided loyalties, tight quarters, hard-assed crew, and long seasons make for explosive situations.

But if you think the crew can relax in the ship’s port of call, Terror Bay, Alaska, you’re mistaken. It’s a frontier town stocked with guarded locals, fortune seekers, and privateers.

Into this world arrive seasoned recruits, leery of each other. Each about to discover how far they’ll need to push themselves to make this experiment work. But, with so little known of their mission, those who enlist are the oddballs, the unwanted, the lone wolves, and the issue driven.

The experiment has already failed once. The Orca, the Narwhal’s sister ship, lies on the bottom of the North Atlantic, destroyed by an unknown assailant, for an unknown reason, when responding to a terrorist attack. It’s the Narwhal’s job to seek out the murderers and put them on a collision course with justice.

Half high stakes procedural, half serialized drama. This is the shakedown cruise.
